je viens vers vous car j'ai une petite question à propos de diamants et de cellules.... voici mon problème.
j'ai acheté une platine dual 1226 de 1975 avec toute la doc même la facture à 950 frs.... (une paye de l'époque!!) dessus il y a la référence de la cellule et du diamant monté d'origine. mais.... j'ai l'impression que ce n'est plus la cellule d origine et donc plus le diamant non plus...
à l'origine c'était une cellule shure M75 type D diamant nb 71
maintenant il y a une cellule shure avec système de fixation avec deux vis de chaque cote sans marquage la seule indication sous le diamant est M91GD



mes questions:
quelle cellule est mieux? celle d'origine ou la nouvelle? car je vais changer le diamant dans le doute. je repart sur l'origine M75 et nb 71 ou je reprends qu'un diamant M91GD ??????

The M75 and M91 had exactly the same performance. To quote them (1979 Shure Catalogue), "The M91ED, M91GD and M75ED Type 2 have identical performance characteristics. The M75ED Type 2 is offered for those who prefer a built-in snap-down stylus guard. The M91GD is offered for those who prefer a spherical stylus." The main difference was that the M75 had an integral stylus guard, while on the M91 it was removable. As David mentioned, the M75 stylus will fit the M91 series, and Shure mentioned that in their 1979 catalogue, which is on vinylengine. They are late-60's designs, and each had several different models, and was upgraded with better styli through its life.

The M97 is two generations later (V15 Type IV era versus Type II), and came out just after the Type IV, using some of the same technology in a cheaper package. It superseded the M95ED as the second best cartridge in the Shure lineup, and the M95ED superseded the M91ED as the second best, just after the introduction of the V15 Type III. Some of the technology includes the stylus protection feature that causes it to withdraw into the housing if it receives a sideways knock, the hyperelliptical stylus, and the damping brush for static reduction and better tracking of warped records. It should be superior sounding to the M91 and M75, and should also track records better, with less record and stylus wear.

So in terms of performance, it was M97 (Era IV) best, M95 (Era III) just behind, and M91/M75 (Era II) next, but still quite good.
